Tumoana Point Hot Water Beach
100 meters from the beach (to the left) is a hot water beach which has hot water peculating through the sand. Take the spades along and dig your own hot pool. The kids will have hours of fun here. You can either access the beach by kayak or you'll get you feet wet wading over. |
Kerosene Creek Is one of our favourates.
Head towards Rototua and onto SH5 towards Taupo. Kerosene Creek is a hot water stream and water fall. Great fun. You need to find an unsealed road called Old Waiotapu Road. Its about 2 kms down the bumpy unsealed road. Directions Here. There is another hot water stream on Waiotapu Loop Road which is another 5 kms along SH5. Turn onto Waiotapu Loop Road and drive past the Geothermal reserve (also worth going to). Less than 1 km from the Waiotapu buildings there is a bridge across a stream. Park either side of the bridge and explore. There are two streams that join, one hot and one cold. It's also worth checking out the mud pools at the Rotorua end of Waiotapu loop road. |
